Date Calculation Tips and Tricks

Learn various date calculation methods for planning and scheduling.

Date calculations are essential for planning, scheduling, and project management.

Common Date Calculations

Days Between Two Dates

Simply count the days or use a calculator:

  • Start: January 15
  • End: March 10
  • Days: 54 days (in non-leap year)

Add/Subtract Days from a Date

Starting from March 1, add 45 days:

  • March has 31 days: 31 - 1 = 30 days remaining
  • 45 - 30 = 15 days into April
  • Result: April 15

Weeks and Days

90 days = how many weeks and days?

  • 90 ÷ 7 = 12 weeks and 6 days

Working Days Calculation

Excluding Weekends

To find working days in a month:

1. Count total days

2. Count weekend days (Saturdays and Sundays)

3. Subtract: Total - Weekends = Working days

Example: January 2025

  • Total days: 31
  • Weekends: 8 (4 Saturdays + 4 Sundays)
  • Working days: 23
